Achensee Xtreme – Individual Race

The wait is finally over! The legendary "Achensee Xtreme" Individual Race will make its long-awaited comeback in winter 2025. On 23 February 2025, the breathtaking Rofan region will once again host one of Austria's most iconic ski touring races. Once a must-attend event for ski mountaineers, renowned for its thrilling competition and unforgettable moments, the race returns with renewed energy and excitement. Programme and route details

  • Start time & route: The race kicks off on Sunday, 23 February 2025, at 10.00 from the Rofan cable car top station near the Erfurter Hütte (1860m).
    • Course of the Individual Race - Men: The participants climb 3 x to the Seekarlspitze (2,261m) and 2 x in the direction of the Haidachstellwand. In the altitude diagram, the ascents are marked in black, the descents in purple and the carrying passages in blue.
    • Course Individual Race - Women: The participants climb 2 x to the Seekarlspitze (2,261m) and 2 x in the direction of the Haidachstellwand. In the altitude diagram, the ascents are marked in black, the descents in purple and the carrying passages in blue.
  • Refreshment stations: Refreshments will be available at the start and finish areas after each lap.
  • Award ceremony: The award ceremony will take place approximately 30 minutes after the end of the individual race. Trophies will be presented to the winners, and the Skimo King and Queen of the SKIMO Alpencup will be crowned during this special moment.
  • Race party: Throughout the day, the race party with live music will provide the best entertainment, and there will also be plenty to eat and drink. The festivities wrap up at 16.30, followed by the descent with the Rofan cable car.

Registration is open from 1 January 2025. The closing date for registration is 20 February 2025 at 23.59.

  • Entry fee: EUR 80, which includes an attractive goodie bag filled with products and vouchers from partners such as Kneipp, Rox, Berglandmilch and Hagan, refreshments at the stations, pasta dishes at the race party, and a return trip with the Rofan cable car. Parking at the cable car is also included for all participants.
  • Combined ticket (Vertical & Individual Race): EUR 120
  • Registration: Registration is required and must be completed by 23.59 on 20 February 2025 at the latest. The number of participants is limited to 200.
  • The “Achensee Xtreme” Individual Race is part of the SKIMO Alpencups 2025.  
  • Race number collection: Race numbers can be picked up with a registration confirmation on Friday, 21 February 2025, from 10.00 to 20.00 and on the race day until 8.30 at the Rofan cable car station. Participants will receive two race numbers - one for the thigh and one for the rucksack.  
  • Mandatory equipment: All participants must adhere to SKIMO regulations regarding required equipment.  
  • Cable car access: Exclusive rides for athletes will start at 8.00 on the day of the race with the Rofan cable car.  
  • Categories:  
    • U16: Born in 2009–2010 (15–16 years old)  
    • U18: Born in 2007–2008 (17–18 years old)  
    • U20: Born in 2005–2006 (19–20 years old)  
    • Seniors: Born in 1980–2004 (21–45 years old)  
    • Masters: Born in 1979 or earlier (46+ years old)  
    • Optional categories: U12 and U14 may be added if parents are present during registration or provide a signed declaration of consent.  

Route changes: The Rofan ski touring area can be explored using the winter/ski resort map available at www.rofanseilbahn.at. Please note that the organizer reserves the right to make last-minute route changes due to adverse weather conditions, such as avalanche risks.  

Liability and insurance: Each participant is expected to have competition insurance that includes rescue coverage. The organizer assumes no liability for injuries, deviations from the designated route, or other risks - participation is entirely at your own risk. Basic alpine knowledge is required for all participants. Participants under the age of 18 must have written consent from a parent or guardian.  

Regulations: The event follows the guidelines and standards of Skimo Austria.
