Achenseebier – Tirol's most popular mini-brewery
Every great success story begins with a single step. For Alois Rupprechter, that step led to the creation of Achenseebier. It all started over ten years ago when Alois, the owner of the Hotel Karlwirt, decided to take a break and spend some time with his family. While visiting Upper Austria, they passed through a small village, where an inn with brewing kettles displayed on its facade caught Alois's eye. Intrigued, they stopped to find out more and discovered that the beer was brewed in-house. Sceptical at first, Alois ordered a beer. But after just one sip, he was pleasantly surprised.
From the first brew to Tirol’s most popular mini-brewery
In December 2010, Alois and his brother-in-law locked themselves in the brewery for four days. Their hard work paid off in January 2011 with the release of their first beer - a delicious wheat beer that gave them great satisfaction. Today, the brewery offers a variety of beers under the “Achenseebier” brand, which are served in both the Langlaufstüberl and the Hotel Karlwirt. “The brewery is now running at full capacity,” says Rupprechter. “We could increase production, but that would mean expanding the facilities, and that doesn’t really make sense. We prefer to keep things small and focus on quality rather than quantity.” In 2019, Achenseebier was honoured by Falstaff as the most popular mini-brewery in Tirol.
